Please add a mode to rate each option on a scale of 0 to 10.
Presently, Straw Poll allows two modes of voting:
- Voters check one of the given options (default mode).
- Voters check however many of the given options (“Allow multiple poll choices” is checked at poll creation).
“Allow multiple poll choices” effectively lets voters rate each option on a scale of 0 to 1. I'm suggesting a similar voting mode that uses a scale from 0 to 10 (11 values total), where 0 indicates the most undesirable options and 10 indicates the most desirable options. This way, voters may indicate the strength of their preferences relative to the other options.
Concerning the user interface for such a mode, I suggest a horizontal slider for each option with the default position as the middle of the scale. Starting in the middle might reduce bias towards either extreme of the scale, especially if the middle is considered as indifferent (neither desirable nor undesirable, effectively an abstention), though perhaps poll creators could set their own default values.
The result for each option could be reported as an average rating taken over the total number of voters, or as the sum of all ratings for that option.
The below images depict a possible implementation of what I'm suggesting.
